LECTURE WEEK 10: ELLIPSIS

AFIQAH BINTI ABD AZIZ

Ellipsis is a new topic for me because I have not come true this topic before this. So, the meaning is ellipsis is about omission of words in the sentence but the sentence still can be understood by the readers. Based on the lecture and my understanding on that day, ellipsis is when words at the beginning of a quoted sentence are omitted, it is not necessary to use an ellipsis to indicate that words have been left out when that fragment can fit into the flow of your text. If the omission comes after the end of a sentence, the ellipsis will be placed after the period. It can be done by leaving out the subjects, objects, verb phrases and even pronouns. We can also insert (...) when quoting. In conclusion, this topic is not difficult to understand. I really do understand about ellipsis during the lecture class.
